Adirondacks 2021

RICKA Adirondacks Trip 2021

Once again we will be paddling the waters of the Adirondacks State Park.  The Adirondack State Park is comprised of 6 million acres.

We will be camping at Rollins Pond this year which is about 30 minutes past Lake Eaton.  This campground is larger than Lake Eaton and has many more sites.   This location will give us access to some paddles which we haven't done in a few years.  We will try to focus in on sites A001 to A031.  They are all waterfront sites.  The sites are fairly spacious and separated from each other very nicely.  The dates of the trip will be August 7th to August 14th.   You are welcome to come earlier or stay later.

Camping reservations can be made at www.reserveamerica.com

I would like to stay with the new trip format we used this year.  Everyone I talked to, with few exceptions, seemed to like the two trips a day format.  The biggest complaint I received was that people wanted to go on both trips.  Those are the kind of complaints I like.

Rollins Pond is accessed by driving through Fish Creek Campground which is slow, tedious and a real pain..  You don't want to be running out for something you forgot, so be prepared by making a list of things to pick up, after you finish paddling for the day. The town of Tupper Lake is about a ten minute drive from the Fish Creek entrance and the town of Saranac Lake is about fifteen minutes.  I feel Tupper Lake has better stores, restaurants, and shopping.  There is even a Dunkin Donuts!!!

Site capacity is limited to six people with a maximum of two tents.  There are trailer sites available.  Reservations can be made up to nine months in advance.

The Adirondacks offers the finest flatwater paddling in our opinion.  The variety of pristine paddling destinations in close proximity is unrivaled on the east coast.  Other activities include hiking, biking and all other outdoor diversions.  The Adirondacks Museum in Blue Mountain Lake is a great place to spend a rainy day.  Lake Placid ant the Olympic attractions are about an hour’s drive and Tupper Lake has a wonderful Natural History Museum.

Weather can be “changeable”.  Nighttime lows may drop into the forties and daytime highs can be in the nineties.   Pop-up showers can occur at any time.  If you have any questions or concerns e-mail Henry.

Please let me know if there are any questions or concerns that you have which I can address. Please let me know which site you have when your reservation is made.

Stay warm this winter and we'll see you at Rollins Pond.
